Mathew currently writes the Months Past column for History Today. My father died on May 22, three days after his 90th birthday. I’m sure I will write more about him and his passing, but in the meantime, here is the obituary David Hencke wrote for The Guardian.

I am looking forward to reading more from you about your father. He sounds like a great role model, a man willing to stand and speak for others in spite of possible personal loss. You were blessed to have a dad like that.
